We are Conservation Grade – the ‘power’ behind Fair to Nature farming

Nature Friendly Owls is brought to you by Conservation Grade. Conservation Grade is an independent non-profit accreditation organisation. Our aim is to set up profitable relationships with companies and farmers that benefit wildlife and consumers.
We established the unique ‘Fair to Nature’ set of rules for sustainable farming, which are followed by our farmers in return for an agreed premium price for their nature friendly crops.
Independent scientific trials demonstrate that our approach leads to a significant increase in biodiversity compared with conventional farming systems.

Fair to Nature farming

By farming in a Fair to Nature way, we can help balance what nature provides and what farming harvests. In buying produce that is grown by Fair to Nature farmers, you can be sure you are helping wildlife and biodiversity in farming as well as purchasing a quality product that has been grown efficiently.

Barn Owl Project

We set up our Barn Owl Project in early 2011 in order to measure the fledging rates of Barn Owls on farms. We teamed up with the Barn Owl Conservation Network (BOCN) to help us install and monitor nest boxes on Fair to Nature farms throughout England.
By measuring the presence and breeding success of Barn Owls on our farms, and comparing our results with non-Fair to Nature farms, we can evaluate the success of our approach to farming in increasing health, quality and biodiversity value of British farmland.

Check out our 1st and 2nd year results on the Project Results page. Results from Yr 3 will be published shortly. Monitoring is continuing during 2014.
